Audiological Tests Performed in the Audiology Unit

  1. Pure Tone and Speech Audiometry: This test enables the determination of hearing thresholds, including Speech Reception Threshold (SRT), Speech Discrimination (SD), Most Comfortable Loudness (MCL), and Uncomfortable Loudness Levels (UCL). It also allows for the identification of hearing loss, including the type and degree of impairment.
  2. Tympanometric Examination and Acoustic Reflex Testing: These procedures are essential in the diagnosis of middle ear disorders and facial nerve conditions, providing valuable insights into the functionality of the middle ear system.
  3. Clinical Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR): This objective test is particularly useful for assessing the hearing abilities of individuals who are unable to participate in Pure Tone Audiometry, such as the elderly, individuals with disabilities, or young children, providing an accurate evaluation of auditory function.
  4. Screening Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR): This test is specifically designed to assess the hearing of newborns, ensuring early identification of hearing impairments.
